'UFO's' at 3AM

On Sunday morning last at about 3AM noticed several bright orange lights moving together in the sky. Pictures below. Taken handheld but still as you can see a couple of stars are visible. They looked very strange as they sort of moved together and silently. It was very hard to estimate their size.

After watching for a while they seemed all to be coming from over the hill to the East.

They were Fire Lanterns! I guess from the Chinese restaurant about 1k away.

Fortunately they did not stray into my imaging area.

The first time I heard about this trick with hot air lantern's was in Katherine. The Airforce boys would get all tanked up and release these lanterns....

The next day there were plenty of "UFO" reports in the local news services

Great party trick.

I've seen something similar over the Blue Mountains at night (I was on Kings Tableland) - a qhick look through binoculars revealed hot-air balloons fashioned from the big thin plastic garbage bags, with a tea-candle beneath for heat.

Downright irresponsible as there was a total fire ban at the time.

They must be extraterrestial objects as the images have all the prerequisites. They are wobbly and out of focus and don't really show much!

UFO crash

I once saw a UFO wreckage on our farm. (Unidentified Fallen Object)

Turned out to be a weather balloon.

Cheers

Did the U.S. Army Air Forces clean up the "Balloon" site?
