That's still Sunday morning our time. I just checked the countdown timer - it should be about 7:02am not 6:02 as I previously stated. Not sure sure whether they've slipped an hour (it doesn't look like it)... more likely I've messed the time zone conversion with the daylight saving factor...

Most civilised although 8:30 or 9 would let me have a proper sleep in! I think I'll set the alarm for 6:45 or so...

It should be good

I think we're nearing the final ten launches before the Space Shuttle is decommissioned in 2010.

Observing Schedule

Having stayed home rather than heading to Mangrove Mountain tonight, I'd better do something useful.
Having spied the Shuttle and ISS travelling near each other but not docked a couple of times in the past, I like to plan when I should be looking up to see this amazing sight.
Here are the major events with the local Sydney time conversions.

Sunday 1/6
Launch 07:02 (Not visible from Sydney, obviously!)

Monday 2/6
Rendezvous begins 22:12

Tuesday 3/6
TI Burn 01:16
Docking 03:55

Wednesday 11/6
Undocking 21:42
Fly Around 22:07
Final Separation 23:25

Sunday 15/6
Deorbit Burn 00:11

From Heavens-above the visible passes aren't lookking good, but it's probably worth a look.

Cheers,
Jason.

Discovery STS-124 Mission launch time difference -EDIT- Never mind.

hey Everyone...

Just thought I'd post this for everyone interested, Whilst watching NASA TV at 3:30am this morning (brisbane time) the count down clock was shown saying 2hrs 32 mins.

This brings the launch time forward to 6.02AM brisbane time...

In the previous thread, alot of people including brisbane residents were quoting a launch time of 7.02am... Hope people read this and dont wake up to the disappointment of having missed it...

Cheers.

edit - never mind, i didnt take into account the 15 minute hold at T-20 mins and the 45 minute hold at T -9mins
Alex.

Shuttle Discovery STS 124 safe launch

Shuttle Discovery is now safely on the way to the ISS with the new Japanese built science lab module.

Launch looked wonderful on TV this morning at 7:02 AM Sydney time this Sunday morning.

Looks like lots of space walking ahead to install the lab and also some Toilet repairing to be done on this trip too...

God speed and Good Luck shuttle and astronauts!

That was the first live launch I have been able to watch on my computer as in the past I have only had a very slow Dialup system
It was great to watch, and I look forward to seeing many more live events, now that I have Broadband

This mission annoyed the hell out of me.. firstly I was supposed to be there!

Had booked a cruise through the Bahamas out of port Canaveral arrive back in port canaveral launch morning, a tour through NASA etc etc..then the buggers changed the launch date

Secondly not one decent flyover coinciding with decent weather the whole time!
Next trip over I am smuggling matches and launching the bugger myself!

You'd be devastated!!

I think you'll meet NASA security pretty quickly when you go running up to the launchpad with a box of matches in hand
