binoculars on the G.C. / SEQ - where to buy?

Hi everyone,
being a novice i've taken the advice from articles on here and decided to buy a good pair of binoculars rather than a telescope to begin with.
I've got a small concern though, being that I'm not entirely sure where to source them from, as most of the online stores listed on this site seem to be interstate (and many don't have the option to purchase directly online)... if at all feasible I would rather buy the pair from a local store in SEQ (online or otherwise) than see the equipment possibly being damaged in transit from the other side of the country

So basically my question is for anyone that has lived / is living somewhere in south-east Queensland, do you know of any local stores that you prefer to buy from? Or, conversely, do any of you actually prefer to buy from an online shop located interstate? Recommendations plz!

Thanks in advance

Seeing that you are on the Gold Coast why don't you go see Lex at star optic's at Gold coast highway Mermaid Beach, or if you want to go for 40 minute drive and see Ron at Sirus optics on Logan rd, Underwood up here in Logan city. Ron will be able to help you out with what ever you need. Buy local then if you have a problem its easier to sort out than buying them through the net.

Matt.

HI and welcome to IceInSpace!

Binoculars are great to start with, plenty to see and easy to use

Also try and get along to some local clubs viewing nights or IceInSpace gatherings around SEQ (there's a few). You'll get to look through some telescopes and decide which one is right for you.

I don't think it is too risky to have bino's shipped, AOE or andrews coms have probably some of the lowest prices.
What size bino are you after?
