New UWA Eyepieces arrived today !!!

Wow!!!...my Newly acquired meade 14mm and 8.8mm UWA eyepieces arrived at my door today!!!...I was in the middle of painting the outer edge of my observing platform when my brother yelled that a woman was at our door with a box in her hand.

Right then I knew exactly what it was.
I immediately ran full speed around the side of the house to the front door and a postal woman had the contents in her hand.
She then said "that will be $70.10 for customs fees".
I was excited that they were there, but at the same time I was shocked to find out that I had to pay yet another fee even after I already payed the person on Astromart for these lovely gems.
I tried convincing the woman that I had already payed for them, but she insisted that I pay the customs fee, or I was out of luck!!!

I ran upstairs to my desk and grabbed the cash and payed her for my eyepiece stash. I then ran upstairs and opened up the box to find 2 nicely packed older-style meade UWA eyepieces. I inspected the outer casings and lens elements and all was well.

Overall, I was very happy to get my UWA Meades and I fixed up the foam in my eyepiece case so that they could fit.
I just didn't understand why I had to pay an extra fee for NOTHING. ( They were shipped by Air Mail USPS ).

Well, here they are folks...I can't wait to get outside now to try them out in my 12" telescope!!!!

If anybody knows why I had to pay the fee of $70.10, Please let me know!!!!...meanwhile, I feel lucky enough to own these 2 babies !!!!...Cheers !!!!

Hi Mark

Anything over $250.00 can be hit by customs. If they had of been sent through the American post office you would of been spared the pain like I was with my two Naglers!
Enjoy your new eyepieces Mark I'm sure It was still worth the purchase !

Congrats Mark on both the 2 new eyepieces......I know exactly how you feel once you hear the front door bell ring...its very exciting.

Its abit different for me because the wife is usualy home and I have to explain this tiny little part actualy cost $100 when it really cost over $1000 most of the time...I have mastered "hide the invoice in the packaging foam" until the wife is out of view....lol

As far as custom fees.....how much was the total cost....and also your custom fees may be different to ours....you will have to check your custom website.

USPS is American post......
UPS is privately run.

Thanks for the info atalas, Yes I think it was well worth the extra grief handing out more cash!!! . Striker, the total cost for the two eyepieces was $350.00 U.S. and the person sending them had them fully insured. Lol @ explaining the little part was $100.00 when really its worth over $1000.00 most of the time!!!, My poor old mother was asking the same thing today !!! LMAO !!!!...I love that name Striker, (I like to buy and sell), my friends all laugh at me because I am CONSTANTLY buying and selling too. I had a 7mm Pentax for a week and I sold it to get these two monsters !!! lol, and I'm POSITIVE that I won't be stopping the buy & Sell thing too quickly !!!

Nice Markus! I have the 14mm myself, and am after the 8.8 when the budget allows.

Where did you find the 8.8? I haven't been able to find one anywhere.. probably lucky though, because my budget isn't ready for the spend yet - I just spent too much on an EQ platform
