What is everyone doing for Sunday's Planetary conjunction?

Just thought I would throw this one out there to see if I get a nibble.

The Newcastle Astronomical Society is having a viewing afternoon/evening for it at the HorseShoe Beach car park in Newcastle on the foreshore. We are on the hunt for new members and to get the interest out into the community.

So what are you/club doing about this event?

We've taken your suggestion on board hOughy and formed a steering committee to review the matter and produce a preliminary report on the feasibility of investigating suitable public transport to the said event. The report was subject to approval by the delegated health and safety officer and subject to financial ministerial approval... The ministers words were... "We'll come if you pay for the ticket!!!!"

Yeah right!! You must have thought about that one for a while . What I meant to say, but not that clearly, obviously, was what are you doing about the event in your local neck of the woods?

GAA up here in the NT will be doing a public viewing night at the local Golf Club.
Minus El-presidente (Me) who will be viewing the event from Mapleton Observatory!

Well I hope the weather is god for everyone to get a western view. The cloud has set in now, and looks like staying until the weekend. They are even predicting snow on the barrington tops thursday night

The Newcastle Astronomical Society's public viewing for Sunday 26th from 4pm onwards is being advertised on ABC 1233 on Friday afternoon around 3.30pm and hopefully on Saturday morning at 9.40am. (Times to be confirmed)
I have been invited to the ABC studio to talk about the conjunction of the three planets etc.. The above times will be confirmed by tomorrow.
I hope to see some of you at the Horseshoe beach.

I have having a huge bbq, followed by the biggest fireworks display you have ever seen, then a goat sacrifice to the gods of the sky....

I doubt I'll see anythig from my place and I'll prolly have visitors so going elsewhere will be out of the question too... so I am relying on you lot to take pics

I'm camping out somewhere near Cooktown. Hope to set myself up for a good westerly view. Maybe the weather gods will be nice & burn this cloud off for the weekend.

Gee Kesmet .. make sure you tell all the listeners about all the dire conbsequences of a planetary alignment ... you know, earthquakes, floods, fire, shifts in the earths magnetic field and all that other stuff

Radio interviews

My first interview of five minutes of fame is on Magdelen Randall drive show at 4.10pm. I may get lucky and get an extra minute to advertise NAS!
My next show!! ah, appearance is on the next day ie Saturday with Craig Hamilton at 9.40am.
I will have Lydia our publicity officer with me.
I hope to get some sleep after that as I would have just finished the night shift at 7 am.
Hoping for clear skies on Sunday evening.

just recived a message from the ABC tomorrow's radio interview is a "no go"
due to the fact that they didn't realise they were double booking. We should be listening now for the interview...... good luck Ghul
