First go at Orion widefield

Hi guys,

I’m new to all this AP stuff and last week had a crack at Orion in semi wide-field. I captured about 3 hours worth of data, of which only about 30 mins was useable, which is the entirety of this stack.

Here is my image with a bit of processing help. Lemme know your thoughts.

Cheers,
Joves

Awesome work for being new, especially M42 itself.
Processing is on point

What gear are you using?

Thanks Adam.

I must admit, I had more than just a little help with the processing. My attempt looks ok, but not as good as this.

The gear this was taken with was:

- Redcat 71
- ASI6200MCPro
- AM5
- Asiair Plus and ZWO EAF

No filters and 39x45sec subs.

What a great result! Looking forward to more. Did you capture that from Sydney? I can never get Alnitak to behave

Thanks guys, I’m glad you like it.

Yep John, it was captured from Sydney’s northern beaches under roughly a Bortle 5 sky. The clear moonless night definitely helped.
