Helix x 3

Since I'm not home it's time to process the Helix data I collected using a dual NB filter and compare it to my other recent attempts I've attached three images ... from L to R:

Image 1. First two sessions combined (UV/IR and UHC filter).
Image 2. All three sessions combined (UV/IR, UHC and dual NB).
Image 3. Session three only (dual NB filter)

Things I've learnt:
a Stick to APP and PS for now, PI is a monster!
b. In my quest to extract max detail, I've also over-sharpened the first two images. There's a delicate balance between detail and over-sharpening hence why I personally I prefer the third image as it's still detailed IMO but without too much sharpening.

All excellent but I also like number three as it looks natural..whatever that means in this game. You can be proud of your result as I think it is a difficult object to do so good as you have..

They're glorious mate. The iris detail, the brow, the pupil and... everything. Glorious! I don't think they're "too sharp". I love how they each highlight something different.
How much integration time is in each set?

Wonderful shot mate. Yes I think I like the more natural look of the last one too. You’ve picked up really great detail both in the eye and even in the outer areas.

I’ve found with APP you need to use a really soft hand with both the sharpen and saturation tool. If you push too far it gets all blotchy. Better to do some light post processing in APP and then bring it into PS to finish off. But I think you’ve found a good balance here and it’s turned out fantastic. Well done!!

Anthony, Dave, John and Alex - thanks for the advice and encouragement :thumbsup Can’t believe that was the last time I had my gear outdoors … grrrr to the seemingly incessant cloudy nights!
