Jupiter - my best this year!

Here's one of the first colour samples from this morning. This is from the 2nd avi. The 1st avi was just as good. I think all 15 will be almost as good!

I'd rate the seeing as at least 8/10, at times even better. This is my best Jupiter this year without a doubt. I'll need to compare it side by side with my best from last year, but it's coming close to my best ever.

There is loads of fine detail visible, and in another avi I've even captured detail on Io. I'll post that one later - it will need to be a composite with an image of Jupiter, as Io travels so fast it's impossible to align the colour channels so that both objects are aligned.

500 frames in each channel stacked, 30fps, 25s recorded in each channel.

Registax wavelets, LR deconvolution and final curves and levels adjustment in photoshop.

More to come!

Fully sick Mike (in case you don't know, that's what young people say these days instead of cool, which we used). The bands are so amazingly aligned, the forces that keep them balanced must be something, I'm sure I'll never truly understand the dynamics that keep it all from falling apart.

Your images are a powerful magnet for astrophotography, it will indeed be very hard to resit having a go at this, but to get results like yours requires perhaps a 'bit' more than just the equipment

very boring Mike , there is no having to squint and imagine bands and details !!! I think that you should give up this planetary stuff and search for Deep sky stuff. You are clearly wasting your time on these! (so is it APOD, SW, S&T or TNS&S cover where is this one going to end up?)

And fancy posting an image with airbrushed on detail on a jovian moon? Unheard of?

Will Mr Peach approve?

Yes, nicely done - I've got loads of data also from last night, including this part where Io crosses the face of Jupiter.

Spectacular image!

Excellent Mike and you have every right to be happy with your efforts. I would be printing that one up and placing it in a frame to be hung in pride of place . Great to see you getting some good time in.
