Some more 12" + EQ6 photos

Here's a couple of images taken in the last few days..

The ones with the laptop etc are from Thursday morning after my Jupiter imaging session.

The last few are from Kulnura on Saturday night. I stood next to the scope in the last one so you can see the size of it

I should get my new rings/cradle in the next week or two, hopefully.

Very nice.

A lot less messy than the old rig. When you gonna start modding?

That's one hell of a cannon Mike, I imagine that viewing at some angles could be difficult without rotating the OTA, have you used it much for viewing other than astrophotography??

The eyepiece definitely gets in some unreachable and awkward positions. I haven't used it visually much, mainly because the rings I have now are not really designed to be able to easily rotate the tube. When I get the new cradles, it should be much easier and I'm looking forward to actually looking through the scope as well!

I did get an eyeball full of Saturn before imaging it on Saturday night (crouching down somewhat, as the eyepiece was almost underneath the scope ), and the view was spectacular with my 5mm TMB planetary. Huge image scale and very sharp.

I have to agree, large, and loud, and the loud part relates to the shorts. Nice rig Mike.
If you are seldom using it visually, perhaps give thought to having the focuser point directly at the mount, thereby bringing the weight closer to the pivot.
Gotta love those cables though.

It's a beauty, the pics don't do it justice.
This rig's going to produce some amazing images.

When you see it in person it does seem pretty big!

I was surprised by the shear size...but it sure looks like it can do the business!

Looking forward to seeing lots of high quality pictures from it.

Mike your pictures make me happy i did not go down this path at this point in time. If i had that setup it would never get used. How long does it take to setup and go? At the same time that is one awesome setup you have. I wonder if i could put a 16" GSO on that thing....

I should have my LX90 8" tomorrow night. Sorry for the clouds.

Regards

Wow, big scope. Is the mount really capable of holding that steady or do you get vibration problems?

It's heavy and long, it's right on the weight limit of the mount, but it can handle it.
I haven't used it in wind yet, but it does vibrate a little if you touch it, change filter on the wheel etc. It dampens down in 1-3 seconds though.
