3 DSO's

Gday here's some pics that I took last friday night, finally got around to processing them , well some of them anywhy.I think that night would rank as the most frustrating night I have ever had.Things started off well but rapdily detoriated after 10.30 with a slight breeze turning into a gale until daybreak.Didnt give up though, persisted but unfortuantely all the effort I undertook in getting the Flame/Horsehead neb was for nothing ....that is one hard DSO to capture and process????The attached pics are Omega Centauri/eta carine neb/cent .

thanks kindly gents...........Doug before the wind set in I had all the gear set up for 10min guided shots through a 80mmED{CG5asgt mount with a 120mm f/5 refractor as a guide scope}. In the end had to settle for 5min unguided exposures and pushed the ISO rating up to 1000 on the D70

Hi Beren,
love your new avatar, you've picked my very favourite female star ship crew!!
A man'd never keep his mind on navigating a starship with these lovelies trotting their stuff about in those skin tight body suits.... woooaaaa

BTW, nice images, I especially liked your Keyhole Neb!

I like to hear that others have those nights where nothing seeems to want to go right...... alas, tis part of the attraction with this hobby.... a bit like golf (which I hate), you try and try, then one shot, your swing is perfect, you hit the ball perfect and it goes exactly where you aimed that silly little ball.... keeps you trying and trying and trying to repeat it.

Aaaahhhh the joy. And we love it !!!

Cheers
Rich

Thanks Rich for the compliments ....going through a Trekker stage at the moment so thought it appropriate to highlight it somehow as for things going wrong, during the eta carina sequence my DSLr's battery needed replacing unfortunately the camera was at an angle so the battery couldn't slide out , had to take the camera off and go through the whole process of reconnecting/framing/ focusing blah blah oe of many for the night

Nice shots Stuart,I like Eta Carina the best It's starting to lift a bit for you.
Stuart If I may give you a little hint...If you select the background and desaturate It about 30% It will help with the contrast and then with some S curves in PS will (very slight)lift this shot a bit more for you and also a touch more saturation through the neb.

ahh yes, been there before. It's a royal pain - you get everything working nicely then have to move the camera to change the batteries. I guess there's those out there that would say something like "replace the batteries with a mains power supply" ... but it just hasn't been worth it for me yet.

Nice shots. Any shot is a good shot with this moon around

Roger.
