Flip of the Coin

Spent 5 days away on holidays in a dark sky location only to be clouded out every night. Managed some mediocre shots between a few breaks in the clouds but nothing worth showing here.

Came home on Friday and on Saturday night the clouds parted long enough to grab 22x30 second subs @ 3200 iso of NGC253. Modded Canon 550d with Baader UHC-S L 1.25 inch filter at the prime focus of my F5 1000mm Newtonian on an EQ5 unguided.

Quite happy with the result from the front yard of my Light Polluted Melbourne suburban home.

For being shot in Melbourne, I'd be happy with that! I was in south central NSW on Saturday night and had nice clear skies, 4" seeing so it was shocking but the skies were clear

Thanks for the compliment Allan, nothing special about the equipment I use so unless you have very expensive tastes I'm sure you can capture a NGC253 like mine without breaking the bank account. Just keep trying and learn as much as you can to improve your techniques. I'm still learning and there is plenty of room for improvement.
