Help Me Identify these Eyepieces

I've got a 20mm and 6.3mm silvertop plossls without any markings as to what brand they are. I've looked online and have come up with everything from Vixen to Celestron, Saxon, Orion and Skywatcher. Anyone got any idea what brand/era they are from?

cheers

They look like "silver top" plossls made in China (maybe by Synta?) and sold under various brand names (Celestron most notably).

I saw something similar on CN a while ago when I was researching the classic Vixen/Celestron Silvertops. I'd say these are likely recent(ish) Synta eyepieces.

Hi SAB,

As the others have indicated these will likely be of Chinese origin and probably manufactured by Synta.

Even from the photographs they don't look to have the finish quality of a Japanese made eypiece.

I got a 25mm and 10mm pair of EPs included with my Saxon dob that look identical to these. I sold the EPs very cheap on ebay.

But they're not bad at all, will do the job for little cost (if you buy from a seller with a conscience). Infinitely better than the crappy Huygens and Kellners we used to get with scopes before ~Y2K. Worth at most $40ea new IMHO. $20 second hand.

Perhaps the best thing to do is stick them on ebay with a low starting bid and let them go for what they fetch. But I could not accept more than about $AU50 ea posted - more than that and I'd be ripping people off.

I believe they're Saxon Plossls. Some came with my scope too.

Website here

Cheers
