Tarantula, NGC 2070 taken with the new setup. 28 mins (57 exposures) at ISO 1600 on the 1200D through the Lunt.

wouldn't mind seeing a higher def pic Brent!
stars look pretty good and maybe you could crank the saturation and maybe push the curves a tad more i know its only 28 mins but the tarantula is bright!

I'll have another play with it but it starts to get noisy. Nearly full moon opposite and some high haze not helping. Trying to find targets West at present to stay out of the glow. My eastern sky can be a real LP PITA.

Pushed it a bit harder on the curves and cropped down to the core. I seem to have lost the colour in the carbon stars but the spider is showing better I think.

Justin: > I reckon the 1200D is excellent. It's probably the most basic of the Canon models but at 18 megapixels and a low noise sensor with Live View it's exactly what I need. It is also a very lightweight body, not too much of a drag on the optical train and is good on the battery life. ISO goes plenty high enough for astro and apparently it lends itself well to cooling and an IR mod later. I haven't opened it up to see .... yet !
I'd recommend it anytime.
