Interesting "linux tablet"

This might be nice for using out in the field with Linux astro programs installed

$229 on order about the same in AU$ (currently about 1:1 exchange rate ?).

This is probably a Spanish language site for a Chinese product.

I am also curious on it.

The only catch is that it runs on ARM like Android and iOS tablets, but apps like Stellarium are rather easily recompiled. Download a compile kit and compile it on the tablet itself. Unlike Android, and particularly iOS, it is a full blown OS.

I have an Android phone (Sony Xperia ZU) which does the job reasonably and a simple tablet with a crippled OS on it (iPad Air 2). The latter I never use, it is for some websurfing and mailing of my girlfriend. It runs Skysafari OK but that also works on my Sony.

So a real tablet without Apple (and Google) limitations by design would be very welcome.

Btw, a possible better approach is to set up a cross compiler on your "beefy" main machine, compile there and transfer the result to the tablet.

You might also be able to use something like distcc as well.

What timing. My ancient, first generation iPad has just decided to die. It can no longer 'see' my Wifi, even when sitting next to the router but the smart phone can see it OK. Looks like I'll be forced to upgrade .
