Sunset at 12 Apostles

Weekend away with a photography club, managed to capture sunset at the 12 Apostles with 11 "ghosts" so I am thinking of titling it "The Eleven Faithful" or something along those lines.

I've still got a little cloning to do in CS4 but so far it has all been done using PixInsight This is about 4 minutes of 8-12 second exposures at F/22.

Had to hit it with 10 passes of the HDRTransfomation to actually bring the sky out.

You might have PI going mainstream in general photography next Colin
Beautiful pic too BTW - has turned out great with the added human factor.

Started with flat fielding it to get rid of the thousands of dust bunnies. I have been left with 2-3 ring artifacts in the near blown out sections of the sky. These only became visible after the HDRTransformation. The flat field itself was taken about a week or more later so there is a chance that they were water droplets anyway. Or it may just have difficulty in large near saturated environments.

I found that the UnSharp Mask was easier to control than Deconvolution, plus a little bit of Deringing makes a world of difference.

Instead of playing around with the saturation in the Curves Transformation, I did a synthetic luminance and hit it with a LRGB Combination
