MS Out Look

Greetings again,

Sometimes me and computers have a fractured relationship.

Problem with the mail client ... it does not work and I have tried everything I know but still cannot make any progress.

Please refer to the attached picture.

When I invoke MS Outlook the message in the LHS below appears ... Obviously, I have an email program.

When I press OK the window then Indicated Outlook is running but it does not do anything.

I have tried the obvious stuff but still it does not work. I use web mail instead.

Any ideas ?

Thank you in advance,

Jeremy.

You could try a re-install but you'll need to remove the existing outlook. I got so sick of the IMAP crud in outlook that I ditched Outlook altogther and use Mozilla Thunderbird. Add the calendar app tab and it does Outlook without the crud... Best of all, all FREE

Thank you Rom.

Removing LookOut and re-installing it seems more of a pain and as you say it is better to ditch Outlook. i'll be doing that. Good suggestion about Mozilla Thunderbird. I'll be installing that later in the morning.

Clear Skies,

Jeremy.

Hi,

You could try Windows Live Mail, a pickout from Windows Essentials, or the freeware OEClassic. I like WLM because it imported emails from my saved .dbx folders from Outlook Express.

Cheers

Greetings Geoff,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. i'll stick with the Mozilla product as there are some things about which I am not particularly savvy and the details of these mail clients are definitely one of them. If they work I'm good but if they stop working, unless it is obvious to me, I am buggered!

Jeremy.

it seems whatever file you've tried to open has no default program to open it. just do what the prompt says and associate the file with outlook if that what is required to open it.

like others have mentioned there's better email clients around. I use to use Agent for all my newsgroups and email needs.

Ha,

My home office software manager decreed she did not like the GUI in Windows Live Mail. She says "I've got to put my glasses on all the time" Well goodness me then !! So it was on to OEClassic as a trial.

This seems to work smoothly everywhere. I got our email going by importing OE .dbx emails, .csv contacts, and accounts. I was sufficiently sucked in, I paid $30 for it. Seems to hit the bullseye.

Cheers
