This one was done in windy conditions with the usual bad seeing over the last few nights. Always one of my favourite planetaries. I particularly like the little jet at the lower right.
Beautiful capture Steve. It's a very unusual looking planetary. I wonder if there are any faint outer shells around it that might be revealed in very deep exposures.
Capturing delightful objects like this is where you simply can't beat large aperture narrow field optics.

Thanks Justin. Actually I think red sensitivity has more to do with it than aperture because the jet is very red. I gather that you do most of your imaging with an unmodified DSLR so you wouldn't record red all that well.
