Amazing 300D Modification

Mike Kudenov posted information on his modified 300D on the digital_astro list today which outlines the most ambitious modification I have yet seen on a DSLR!

http://glogg.jupiter-io.net/300d/

Mike not has the sensor remounted in a cooled air tight chamber but also has modified the 300D electronics to turn off the amplifier during long exposures.

Amazing stuff!

So when are you taking to yours with a hacksaw Terry?

I like that second idea, but how do you get to the bulb socket, video out and usb sockets if that thing is in the way?

Haha..yeh at one stage I toyed with the idea of removing the colour filter from the sensor . But I am pretty happy with the IR enhanced 300D the way it is.

He has actually repositioned the ports to the external unit (the USB is up towards the top). Biggest problem is the cost which is getting up towards a 5DH.

Well that lets me out If I'm going to spend that sort of money then I'd have to start looking at SBIGs.
