First Light UHC-S filter

I've been toying with the idea of buying a UHC filter to help combat the sky glow I get from the street lights to the North and West. Finally took the plunge and ordered it earlier this week. A Prostar UHC-S from Steve at MyAstroShop.

I was suitably impressed with the quality of the build as well as it's performance.
Processing was a bit of a learning curve. Trying to get the colour balance right was challenging.

ED127, CDS1100D, 25x5min subs, DSS, CS3.

Higher res version here.

The detail in the neb is great. Maybe use it as luminance and take unfiltered for colour?

I know your pain of dealing with LP. I'm thinking I have little choice but to make myself mobile to do more AP.

Cheers,
Cam

Come up well jjj !

A real bugger to balance the colours with filters.

Must drive you crazy with the street lights!
I only have cls filter for imaging in moonlight, ended up not using it for the colour balance problems.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice pic JJJ. The neb looks great, the stars look a bit blue?

Justin, the CLS filter is a problem in moonlight. Moonlight sky is bluish and the CLS which is already blue biased only makes it worse. I find the Baader Semi-apo filter to be useful as it clips some of the blue spectrum, or even a plain light yellow filter.
