Thanks Starcrazzy. DSI II difference i would say pixels are smaller, abit larger FOV and less noise. It now has temp sensor which you can take your dark frames according to the temp of the imager. Optics on the GSO i would say are much better than the Optex. I guess it is new
You have cirtainly hit the ground running, great stuff.
The sharp shot on the right shows the outer nebula with a green tinge, is this due to your processing? I am sure if you can make it match the nebula colour in the other shot, more will be visible.
lester, many thanks for your replies. Ive also noticed the green tinge in the outer edge. I don't think it is the processing part maybe something got to do with the actual Envisage program when using the sharp setting. The green doesn't occur in my soft images. same processing method via photoshop cs2. thanks for pointing it out. might need to investigate on this.
I like the Triffid shot the best. It's a shame they have slight trailing and the blue response doesn't seem to be as high as the red?
I don't even try these objects with my NABG ST7 on my LX, there are too many stars that are too bright and ruin the shot. And I don't have colour which you sort of need for nebula's I think.

That's not what I wanted to hear. I only had a brief look while the scope was on the wobbly mount, but the Optex mirror left me unimpressed so far. I was hoping it would just be cooling and collimation.
How do you judge the quality of the optics, Eric? Visually or through the DSI? Do you star test or just look at stuff at high power?
thanks roger. next imaging session i see what i can do about the star trials. have an autoguiding interface on its way so hopefully that should fix the problem.

Might be also because im imaging through a DSI II now instead of the DSI-C. *shrugs*

Probably not. The Optex is probably made by Synta.

I guess that's probably the diff between the two DSIs. Hopefully I can give the scope a good workout on the weekend - new mount is almost finished .
