Thinking about $250 for the Eckhart DSC; includes 1000 tic encoders and cables and $400 ONO for the NGCMax with 4000 tic encoders, cables and Manuals. Negotiable!!??

Yes, I think most people would not know what to do with these items; how to use them, how to install them, what other hardware/software is needed, will it work with my scope ... etc

The Eckhart DSC's arer actually called "Micro-guide III" see www.nova-astro.com

This is an interface set of electronics which talks to encoders on the Alt/Az ( or RA/Dec) axis of the telescope and communicates to a PC say, running The Sky ( or most of the other planetarium packages) to display the co-ordinates of the scope on a map of the sky. You can either have the telescope drives controlled thru the same package ( GOTO) or select an object, and move the telescope until the "cross-hair" lines up on the screen ( Push-to) Uses serial connection to PC.

The NGCMax is a stand alone "computer" with built in database which can display the scope position and directions to the selected object on the handheld display. It can also be connected to a PC as per above.
Both need some additional hardware to connect the encoders to the axis of the telescope.

I should also have mention that the Micro-guide electronics interfaces directly with the Bartel GOTO driver software. See my other "for sale"

No one in the market for some great DSC's??? This will fit any mounting and is as good ( in my opinion) as the expensive Argo Navis etc.

Hmm ... to be honest, that's about the cost of a new one these days, with a fitting kit as well. Wanna fight about that price?

Lumicon are advertising the Base Sky Vector computer unit ( www.lumicon.com) at us$420; with todays exchange etc thats about A$ 650+ landed here. So a savings of over $250 on a new unit!! UK pound must be doing well on exchange??!! Need to think on it.

There been a couple on Astromart for us$ 255 -280 WITHOUT the encoders.
What about $375 +pp
Would be a great system for the medium/ large dobbies out there.

Should have mentioned before this is the NGC- Sky Vector version with extended database etc. I've interfaced it successfully with Sky V6 very accurate. Any takers?????
