Thankyou Sheeny ! Dew Heater MKI & Controller

Up until last night my viewing has been limited by dew .. badly.
So, as the skies have been average here over the last few nights I've undertaken Sheen'y excellent walkthrough of building the dew heater and controller.

Saturday night was an all nighter dusk till dawn without a spot of dew.

Thanks Sheeny for posting something that even a rank electronics amateur can follow and will great results ! The only mod I made was some draught stopper stuck to the outside of the strip to reduce the heat loss, and then I remembered the dew shield has a strip on it anyway ! ( Double insulated now )

Now at last, I can start to try and get my head around the imaging that has always been cut short !

Do you have a scanned copy of the instruction manual for the speed controller? the ZA1169B one? I have misplaced mine and need to work out the pin connections for power and motors.

Thanks Al. Glad it was of help. It's so good to be able to get some viewing / imaging done (apart from just an alignment!) before the dew monster slavers all over your scope...

Astroman... not sure if the controller you are thinking of is the same one I built? The number doesn't ring a bell, but I'll have a look for the manual for mine. It'll be "in the garage"! If its the same one I'll be happy to scan it fo you.

Al.

Sorry Astroman... mine is a TL494. Maybe someone else has the manual for the one you're after? Anyone?

Sorry mate.

I'd recognise that photo anywhere!

I'll scan the manual tonight and PM you. I guess the two chips are equivalent .

Al - I'm lovin' it ! Thanks again.

Andrew - If Al can't find the manual I know where mine is so I'll whip it through if needed. I think it is - power in - power out + power out + power in from top to bottom in the piccy you posted .. ( based on memory ! ).

There's a tremendous satisfaction of building something yourself, isn't there Al. Especially if you push your comfort bubble a little but and try something new!

Astroman, I've sent you a PM with my email address. Send me yours and I'll send you the scan of the manual (1.64M pdf file). In the meantime, do these diagrams help any?
