1736 seconds at 200iso wide field

What a fantastic 5 nights viewing, perfectly clear and dark sky . Nearly died the first night because I had no wood and got so cold I was scattered and disoriented by early morning . Up all night 5 nights in a row all up other nights were excellent with an open fire . Slept till after noon each day but was tiring five days. Used the 12 inch whilst waiting for exposures to run so it was a full photo and visual five day run.
Got some long exposures this one is the longest at 1736 seconds and at 200 iso..just to see how it goes ..there is one longer but it has some trails. Used standard Canon 300d and lens piggy back on 70 x 600 mm ar on eq5 mount. The mount worked so well and was well alinged so many shots went with out adjusting the control.
I cant get the green out of this stuff?? I set up various coloured filters with these wide fields and will be interested to see what comes from them.. and did and subtracted a dark frame... for this shot..so will do some more combining and see how I go. I got over 150 raw images mainly widefield.
I will post them as I find them fix them etc but I think it will be an early night. I have opened a photobucket account so I will get some high res images on it when I sort things out.

Fantastic work Alex.
The cold must have helped the camera too.
Great combination of long exposure, low ISO and cold ambient temp.

Well done.

download Autostitch Alex. It's free and does a fantastic job of mosaics. You will have to play around in the options box to increase the size of the final image but it easy to learn. Don't make the size too big unless you have a good numbercrunchering computer. It tends to goggle up the ram for big images.

Frank a mosaic has been on the books for a while, Had the idea of a rather large "star chart" for the walls at home. But even with a goal of getting shots for same something goes wrong in getting them all (in one night).
Paul thanks for the tip.. have already figured fotos generally seem to tax the system here.. the mind boggles when I recall when I retired the 64k Osborne and went real big...a 20 meg hard drive, the huge drive was justifiable because it was for the office afterall..who could ever use so much space?..well these tiff files are nearly that much each...and I filled the 1 gig card with RAW

I think I may have a 1 meg here to view. No dark frame subtract. I will have to reprocess the RAW cause I downsized my stuff for posting and somehow neglected to keep large versions I am getting familar with photobucket so I hope it works for me.. I will post other higher res. stuff this way.
