Hello answer to the Spider question it is commonly called a "Bird Eating Spider" or "Australian Tarantula".
The writes up warn you about them being aggresive and dangerous but she has never shown any interest in biting me at all.

Terry, it's interesting to see in the article you linked that the beasts make a high pitched noise at times. The reason for that comment is that on a number of occasions I've thought the same about Huntsmen (I catch and release, not kill). To date I've not mentioned this to anyone as I thought I was going bonkers - my hearing's not what it was forty years ago.

I should probably put this under 'chat', but seeing as the subject has been raised . . .

To everyone else, I'm most impressed with the entries this month. Well done.

Thanks Terry, so I was on the right trail, it is in the trapdoor family I read on another webpage. some webpages say their bite is rather bad!
