There's definitely something wrong with the GPS in my iPhone since the update. I told my wife I was going to get some tuna and salad for lunch, but somehow I ended up at McDonald's eating a lamb burger with fries and a Coke!

I don't know if it will download via a mobile broadband connection, but mine downloaded the last major IOS5 update all by itself. No idea if it was over my WiFi at home or over 3G as it is a work phone, but I did not get a nastygram from work for crushing my data allowance.

As I understand it, downloading the iOS can only be done over WiFi, in fact IIRC anything (in terms of app at least) over 50 megs needs a wiFi or computer connection.

Anyway, I'm all updated to iOS6 on all the devices that will accept the new OS (my poor iPad can't be updated, maybe time to get a new iPad *grin*) and it's nice.

I can confirm that iOS (6) will only download over a WiFi connection as I had a dodgy Internet connection over the weekend. Whenever it dropped out, my device stopped downloading the update.

Unless you're being sneaky and sharing your 3G connection via a personal hotspot (and connecting to it via Wi-Fi on another device), it won't download.

Feels like this IOS6 eats battery power quicker than previously. iPhone4 and I have most location services off. Anyone else notice that?

My wife mentioned that last night actually.

I'd only updated her iPhone 4S earlier that day and by the end of the night it had chewed through more battery than the previous day (same usage).

the same can be said for the ipod - mine is resource hungry and seems to have a lot shorter battery life. I will also note that i upgraded the 11" air last weekend (latest update for lion which has the new itunes - and what a dog that is) and that is eating through the battery life on that as well so i wonder if there is a connection there somehow? i used to be able to get 4-5hours out of it - now i am lucky to get 4 hours tops and thats within 4 days of loading it.

Are you all using cloud services now that you weren't before? I can't tell if my battery is lasting any less, maybe a little, but certainly not 25% more.

Interesting comment re; iTunes David - what's your beef with it? The App Store on the devices themselves is a whole lot better.

Same config for us (iCloud).

I dislike the App Store on the device. Now instead of seeing many apps on the one screen, you can only see one at a time. Much more swiping and clicking to find out more info. Really annoying.

It seems that's not the case for some people in the US. IOS 6 bug?

Maybe I should ask the local Apple store and Optus before we put a SIM in SWMBOs iPhone5.

I just tried updating an app over 20 MB in size over 3G and I was advised to connect to WiFi.

Granted, I don't have an iPhone 5.

H, the story said earlier iPhones upgraded to iOS6 were doing the download-over-cellular thing too.

We now have the "your phone is at the store, come in and collect" email. You have to apply online (not in store) between 07:00 and 15:00. They said if you don't get the email by 21:00 you have missed the day's allocation and have to reapply. It was sent at 20:52.

There may be an issue with the iPhone 5 camera giving purple flares as well.

But at least there are lots of iPhone 4's for sale 2nd hand.
And seeing they are all for sale at the same time, prices are reasonable
I've bought 2 so far and should get a third tomorrow
