now if you think of it as ITHICAS and iceman we can the using the age old aussie way of shortening the english language (edit) alter it to comply whith Occar, venacular, therefore shortening it to ITHICASICEMAN. See makes simple sense and there is no loss of meaning (much)

*crawls out back from under rock* guys, Thanks for all your posts, and letting me get that off my chest, IIS is the best therapy I could hope for hehe

Tony, now that you mention it, Ving's lolling cows head avatar is really starting to get on my nerves I mean why is a cow listening to headphones and mooving to the beat? surely thats just not possible, is it? I think Ving has gone to far this time
and yeh i think we could do with striped or a colourfully polka dotted text/font, I mean isnt this 21st century or what?

Matt, cheers I'm ok now, took a stress pill all is looking rosy again - seriously I doubt think my little dummy spit thread will stop anyone from joining or participating in this forum, well I certainly hope not!, but they might listen to my advice and correctly use in the thread title's? Hey I have to listen to American pronunciations of certain english words on TV and movies all the time - now thats something that gets me really going gggrrrr

Geoff, LOL, no worries, and have a great night mate

Kearn,

I advise you to take your own advice; it's "it's", not "its".

kthxbi,

Greg... Octane.

Yes, I noticed the irony of the apostrophe situation earlier in this thread.

Ironic, is it not?

What can you do?

Ah well... back to the backyard for some imaging.

Very amusing thread guys.
I, being of the 'very old school brigade', find that the, so called 'new way' of talking/speaking/writing, is irritating to say the least.
Thank you Kearn, for a most enjoyable way in which to highlight that fact.
If I may tho., I have 'learned to live with (some) of it'! Tis a bit hard to 'go against the flow', once it has started, without a very large piece of 4" X 2" in hand. I think you/we just have to grin n bear it.
Thanks guys. I can now get up off the floor & dry my eyes.
Regards, L

Let's not run the risk?

I think one of the really attractive aspects of IIS is its friendliness and non-intimidatory nature.

I know it's one of the reasons I joined, compared to other sites around at the time.

I think it's even part of the ethos of this site?

I'm just wondering how "friendly" it might appear to someone thinking of signing up to see someone railing so vehemently over something like this?

Just a thought, inspired by a sense of wanting to keep thing "laid back".

Cheers and clear skies

touche' fella's, you know its funny and strange, but I dont care much about grammer and apostrophy's, punctuation ect. (obviously!) and I guess that would annoy the hell out of real pedant!
but en masse epidemic misuse of a short simple everyday word (and I have seen frequent use of the word advise instead of advice on ALL the forums and groups I frequent for years now) I guess I am not a full pedant, only a occasional spelling one.
It's not like its just a simple typo either, they dont bother either, there is only one other simple everyday word I find this with as well, but cant remember what it is atm

LOL Laurie, we may be the last sentinals against a tide of spelling barbarism like king canute's with 4"x2"s

Ok no problem Matt, this is the only word I would react like this with, so its unlikely I would do it again - or would I SO BEWARE EVIL SPELLERS SUPER SPELLING GUY IS WATCHING!

Well!!...this has been an interesting thread!!!..hasn't it?...but I will say this..since I joined the IIS forums..I have found it more than a site of technical information...it is full of great adventures...and of those who take on a challenge..wether it's going to their first star party..or crafting a mirror..showing their grankids Saturn...and even expressing how we feel about something..each one of us will do so at some time or another..and I don't think anyone would be detered from this forum...sure..it started off serious enough..and I understood where FD was coming from...but it lightened up along the way...either way...this is a great forum..with even greater people too I might add...and I'm honoured to part of it!!!

well done tooooo Calin (and asi earlier with the 'too' typo ) you have both found some of my carefully placed spelling errors - the rest of you score ZERO on your test - let Asi and calin be shining examples to the rest of youse

I am glad I didnt (deliberately) mispell foetal in 'faetal position' with a c instead of a t, or maybe that would describe the real position i am in presently?

and what is a 10 letter word for train crash?, just doing it now

Post No 57 - I can do it, I think I can do it - unfortunately the bloodthirsty redfaced rage of pedant has left me somewhat, but I think they felt that withering pedantic blast, and I think they got the 'dont mess with pedants' message ggrrrrr

Thankyou for your support Terry, we must stick together, I feel like the famous eddy the eagle must of at the ski launch at the winter olympics - but i admit I wouldnt be able to have overuse emoticons and spam so efficiantly if it wasnt for this blistering paced new server/webspace -
cheers
