Reminds me of the time my friend moved in to a new apartment complex and someone went ahead and stole his gym gear/weights set from the "secure" storage area in the carpark.

He put notes up around the apartment complex saying:

"To the person who stole my weights set,

I hope you put them to good use, because, if I find out who you are, it's HAMMER TIME."

The weights were replaced within 3 days, lol.

LOL. Kinda similar story - when I was at Uni I did Tae Kwon Do for a few years. One night while driving home from a class our Sensei was hit from behind by a car. Driver of the car behind gets out and walks up to him ranting and raving how it was his fault, throwing his arms about trying to intimidate. So Sensei gets out of his car still wearing his 4th Dan black belt and gi. Driver quiets, face goes white, gives his license details, gets back in car and drives off. LOL.

Well I would be happy if someone stole my car and I did not get it back. It is insured for an agreed value. Much more than i would get if I sold it.

Left my car (4 month old MX5) outside a friends home at 9.30pm on a Sunday night in June, finished a quick coffee and returned to find that it had been broken into, both side windows broken and the tops of the console and seat cuddy torn off, all for an iPod and a pair of sunglasses. $700.00 to replace the stolen gear and $1800.00 for the glass and panel damage. I still feel ill when I get into it. Bring back restitution for the offenders, the claim of a difficult upbringing and drug use is a B******T excuse. We all have or have had monkey's on our backs at some stage, and for most of us it makes us better people.
Greg.

Bad vibes man.

Perhaps you are better off not getting it back. A mate had his HZ with a worked V8 stolen and by the time he got it back it was trash. They had thrashed it so hard the axle housings turned in the diff housing. The motor was never the same.

I was also going to to suggest you display you credentials on the dash board but I see everyone else had the same idea. Anyway perhaps I can cheer you up by recalling a story from about 10 years ago. Some low life was robbing a flat when the tenants returned, so they did a runner. Unfortunately the tenants were two members of the ACT Brumbies rugby union team (a winger and a loose forward I think). The report said that they were caught and detained until the police arrived. And we all joked about how glad the thief was when the coppers arrived and they could stop learning the finer points of the ruck and maul!

Its the sort of thing you can do without.

Often its debatable whether its worth getting it back, if it gets absolutely flogged and abused. Some friends of mine got theirs back after it was stolen, but very quickly wished that hadn't. The clutch was the first thing they noticed, but then it was using oil where it didn't before and eventually the gearbox died...

Whichever way it goes Mike, I hope you get out of it with minimum inconvenience and cost.

Al.

Security cameras are cheap nowdays mike, might be worth installing one with a view of the car parking spot, at least you might have a chance of identifying them if it happens again.

Bad luck indeed
Its almost become an inevitable part of city life. Everyone gets something stolen/broken into at some point.

Just be glad no loved one got hurt

Its happenned to me a few times (cars in Canada and Oz, my flat here in Oz years ago (completely emptied it with a flat bed truck, in broad daylight while neighbours watched....caught them and took them to Court.
slap on the wrist for one all the others seem to get off
Its a good reason to live in a rural setting if you ask me...

Hope It all works out Mike .

Stolen cars .. I used to work a nightshift in the lower valley in brisbane years ago and had my ute stolen 3 times out front of work ... First time they crashed it into the arse of another car and fled .. the other two they tried to push it and push it but it wouldn't start with the rotar taken out

We nabbed some guys one other night trying to hot wire another guys car , bad luck they got spotted when we where playing pool in the building above , Four of us ran out with ques and bailed them up in the car till the cops arrived.

Hmmmm ... I hope it finds it way home Mike, but Ive a feeling that if you hear about it ever again it will be as a result of it being involved in something less than honorable. Lets face it, they aren't taking it to sell by the sound of its age and condition, so unless its joyriders ........ Anyway, fingers crossed mate.

Shocking feeling when it happens... Had our house broken into a couple of times, once when we were on holidays and driving back through Moore when the mobile rings from the finger printing mob wanted to get in... that was the first we heard of it. That was a looooong drive home.

Our car was stolen from our carport (spare keys in the console... not a good move). The car was found along the side of the road near Woodenbong, completely cleaned out, pram, glove-box, etc, even the rubbish bin. Two tripods in the roofbox remained, as well as the seatcovers (now in the Honda... a veteran of 3 vehicles) and the dashmat. The driver side door was never quite the same, and there was some slight damage to the front of the car when they went off the road, doors locked with the keys on the seat.

The consensus is that someone was in the neighborhood from out of town, needed a lift home, grabbed a ride... and cleaned out the car.

Hope that it was someone looking for a lift home in your case and is not an idiot.

Tony and Anne-Louise

Strange things happen - my son calls me some year back. He's driving the EL Ford sedan to Uni. Middle of the day from the carpark, he calls me and asks "Have you taken the spare wheel out of the boot?" No, what's happened. He could see something was odd at the boot end (the lock) and found the spare wheel missing. Well, they had popped the boot lock off with screwdriver, pulled on the wire to open the boot, carefully removed the spare wheel, left everything else - jack, tow rope, jumper leads, tool boxes - packed it all back and closed the boot. Go figure!

A pain to have to do the wreckers run for a replacement spare wheel and tyre. Also we then disconnected the internal wire from the the boot key lock to the catch - on looking, it is child's play to get into the boot that way. Only use push button or internal unlatch now.

Hope the car turns up, Mike, relatively unscathed.
