Glad I'm not Robinson Crusoe on this. To be perfectly honest, I get heaps through AusPost as couriers don't come out here in the boonies. I have a brilliant postie whose run is approx 170km, 5 days a week - and a very well deserved few bottles of wine to him and his offsider each year @ Christmas for such outstanding service. Australia Post generally have a great record. BUT - here's the crunch, when they (AP) get it wrong (and that's okay, these things can and do happen over millions of items), they are unable to react to remedy the situation - the customer knows where it is, but AP simply doesn't have a simple system in place to intercept the "wayward travellers" and get them back on track, even when their tracking system we have access to clearly shows there is a problem. I don't mind a few days late, but when the carrier is informed, the arms are thrown in the air by the Customer Service team - they have no means of efficient contact to intervene with those working on the sorting floor. So, around she goes again!
Ah well, I just hope they are able to improve their internal comm's to facilitate a slightly better system to solve errors.

My Daughter has a small online business and has used Oz Post for the last 2 years for approx. 800 parcels. Some of the so-called "express post" stuff taken ages to be delivered. This was the case even before COVID.
Yesterday she had to refund a customer because the parcel is now officially lost. Oz Post didn't want to know about it and were of no help.
I've done some work for Oz Post in the past and you get some dodgy pockets when it comes to attitude but overall, the people are fantastic and very committed to their work. They have a sense of pride in their work and rightly so. However, there is an element that just doesn't care.

Believe me, it's not just you. It's not uncommon for things to go to the wrong state, or take the long way round within a state, or even just sit in a "facility" for an extended holiday!

2 days and no movement between Sydney west sorting centre and Chullora, I have no bloody idea where my package has gotten to but I'll be making an inquiry today at the local PO when I go down the street.
I have NO IDEA how it got from an airport to Sydney west sorting centre. And I'm in Lithgow, why not keep sending it west where it has to go through town to get to Kelso (near Bathurst) to come back to Lithgow. It's beyond a joke!

My latest update is no better. A 239 km journey, and this eyepiece has now travelled a total of 8,219kms and still counting. Sitting now in Chullora for over a week, will be over a month by the time it gets here. I'm moving to Uzbekistan in the hopes of getting my mail sooner. THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN, AND THEY CAN'T SEE ANYWAY TO FIX IT. I attach an email received from Christine Holgate, who took the time to reply to my correspondence despite being busy in her role of CEO of Toll.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I will always be a strong supporter of Australia Post and the role it plays in serving our communities. Going back though, is not an option. They have a new CEO now and I am leading a great team here, who need me.
Thank you again
Christine

I rest my case - good luck, we are at the mercy of the Aus Post beuracrats.

Trashing Australia Post
Well, no not really, but thought a couple of anecdotes worthwhile. Several years back I went in the local office and purchased a roll of 50X$1 stamps. Just happened later that day I needed to check on-line the cost of overseas mail. Saw something that informed me that the regular rate had very recently risen to $1.10. Pity someone did not say "are you aware of the recent price rise?" Another one was at Christmas past and aware that regular letter mail to Europe was $3.50. What do I do? go to PO again to get some 20cent stamps or put an extra $1.10 on to total $4.40??? You know for the enormous salaries paid these days it would not harm some the executive staff to use a bit of grey matter. I guess life was not meant to be easy!!
