I suggest that the rocker box is going to be way too flimsy, requiring bracing or stiffening ribs to be fitted. Also from the picture the spider appears to be too skinny, which will cause the secondary to move with changes in altitude.
I hope thats not the case, or you would be forever chasing your tail to keep it collimated.
If that is the case houghy I'll have a look at it and I could put some nice concealed stiffeners in the rocker box if you want.
what will be needed to fix up one of these units, I know that certain members have doctored their 12-8 versions, would the same be needed for this one?
The massive 45mm thick B270 glass blank on the 16" ( same expansion co-efficient as plate glass ) can't be upgraded, so its performance on any particular night at high power will be at the mercy to some extent of the prevailing weather conditions, but the image should look satisfactory at low power on most nights assuming the 'thermally stable' figure is at least the 1/2 wave PV wave-front minimum optical spec that Guan Sheng quote on their website ( "1/16 wave PV RMS surface" ) and allowing they are talking simple spherical aberration. http://www.gs-telescope.com/content.asp?id=95
