IC4628 - 2 studies in Ha

This is a gorgeous nebula and I hope to spend lots more time on it. For now, I'm looking at scale and for that reason have done images at FLs of 330 mm and 1000 mm through my 85mm reduced BabyQ and an f5 200 mm newt. Both are 90 minutes of Ha in 10 minute subs. I'm pretty stoked (haven't used that work in 40 years I don't think) with both.
Hope others like them also.

Sorry I am not set up to post larger scale images yet. But getting there. Being a computer Luddite takes time to overcome.

Yes, nice work Peter.

F5 200mm Newt?
Sounds like a versatile scope

Some added colour

Thank you for the generous words of encouragement. I have added some SII and O3 to the Ha - on the 1000 mm FL only. The O3 in particular is pretty noisy - there is precious little of it there and even 9x10 minutes seems woefully inadequate to suppress the noise. I've combined them in a standard Hubble format and tried to maintain those orange/yellows from the SII. It sure is a nice structure and when the weather clears again and the moon fades a bit more, I hope to try some LRGB and even (gulp!!) some HLRGB.

Superb shots. This one looks good at any FL. The area is very rich in Ha.

The Ha comparison images are stunning Peter. Well done. I found it this area of the sky difficult to contend with. Especially with the OIII emission line being washed away by the Ha. Masking can bring it back with aesthetic results.

And FINALLY, in LRGB with some Ha sneaked in as well

Couldn't resist it - I had to do some LRGB. I haven't done a new set of flats on this setup so these are just Bias and Darks and only 90,30,30,30 minutes. I tried blending the Lum and Ha before applying it.
The colour balance isn't right and there does seem to be some gradient going on but the more subdued colours are soft on the eye and quite appealing to me.

Sounds like you're enjoying the clear weather of late and your latest gear Peter. And about time we had the opportunity to indulge!
LRGB a little bit "salmon" but adds plenty of spice to the B&W pics.

All looking good Peter, personally I like the Hubble palette version best, perhaps a tad green but I like the ribbons of nebulosity going up and left in front of the prawn and how the nebulosity looks to be floating with stars clearly sitting behind it.
