Infrared image

I have been testing my Fuji XE1 for infrared images.

I got this result.

I am quite happy with that. I was thinking I may have to modify a camera to get this sort of result but its not needed. Also the autofocus worked with this.

Delightful Greg. From what I've read the Fuji sensors do quite well with a standard 720nm filter. Must try it with the XPro1.

Definitely something different, Greg. Appears as if from an alien planet. If you dont mind me asking, what is the purpose of IR camera? for nightscape where visible light isn't ideal? Cheers David

It does seem to do well. My little Sony RX100 does very well too. Not all lens work with it. The 18-55 zoom on the Fuji has a hot spot with this filter which is not uncommon with lenses.

Its a regular camera but with a detachable IR filter in front. Just for a different look.

Thanks Carlos. It is an unusual presentation. I am thinking of doing a time lapse in IR once my intervalometer for the Fuji arrives.

IR images always remind me of snow falling on cedars. Something winter like about the images and this is no exception. I like the image.

Thanks Paul. There are some nice filters for IR work on the market. Some make foliage look red that looks good as well.

I am looking to modify some mirrorless cameras and do some experimentation for IR and a more advanced astro mod rather than the standard mod.

I think some CMOS camera chips in recent and upcoming regular cameras look on paper as being superior to the current crop of CCDs that seem to have stagnated and little sign of development occuring now that Kodak has left the game. The CCD world seems to be frozen in time unless Sony comes to the rescue.
