I'm not getting through a day on one charge on my 4S anymore.... Granted I do spend a lot of time on the phone and my iPad is tethered and I use Bluetooth for my car kit. Not really a big issue for me though...

The battery life issue is getting some airplay in the media, http://m.smh.com.au/digital-life/mob...002-26x8n.html

The article has links to ways people are addressing them as well.

Had the same problem with 2 iPhone 4S. First phone died completely had exchange through Apple Store. The phone I have now kept dropping out of wifi to 3G as a result went over my data plan by heaps. Updated the OS to 6.0.1 today and problem gone. Update is worth the 45 meg download.

goober,

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. What Adrian mentioned will fix it.

Are you using a Netcomm router? I was having an issue with dropouts and having to re-enter my password all the time. But, the problem didn't happen on other routers.

I found the solution to be to enter the wireless details manually once. Then, it would maintain the connection permanently. Something strange about that Netcomm router.

Turn by turn navigation

Don't know if the turn by navigation is working in Australia as yet, when I left it wasn't. I am California ATM, and it works great here. Looking forward to having that function back in aus.

Hey Octane, the problem seemed to resolve after a network setting reset and a power down.

iOS is so last month. It's all about iPad mini now. iBaaaaaa

I think I was a bit premature with the iPhone IOS6.0.1 fix. It appeared to work for a little while now I am back to entering the network password every few minutes. After reading reports on the net it appears that
1. A compatibility problem with my Netgear DG834PN router or
2. The iPhone itself as a hardware problem (bad batch?)

If it was a car or toaster or microwave or.......... And it didn't deliver the promises made by the manufacturer it would be recalled and replaced/repaired but it appears that some manufacturers can get away with selling/supplying goods that are not fit for service. I have tried Apple Service with no luck as the person I spoke to says he is not aware of any problems with update.

Adrian,

Do what I did:

Go into wireless settings and choose to set up a manual connection (regardless of the fact that the phone can see your existing wireless connection).

Fill in the wireless key details and your password, and, then you should be good to go. Mine's working flawlessly, now.

Adrian - take it in. They'll replace it. They're more responsive than you'd like to think.

I don't remember reading anything about a wifi password fix in 6.01 and of course I can't find the readme on line.

It has always worked fine with my netgear modem DGN2200M. Either do a factory reset on your modem and set it up again or go get a new modem.

Keep it that way Marc! You'll enjoy dark skies for longer!

I am glad my iPhone 4S was stolen (it was the 3rd replacement by Apple Store within 18 months) and had that replaced with a Samsung III 4G and this has not given me as much grief so far! Everything works as advertised except that I had to pay again for the SkySafari Pro in the iPhone - the Samsung even picked up my iPhone backups and converted everything over to the Android system appropriately and I had everything back including notes & contacts!

YMMV
Cheers
Bill

PS: Not a fan-boy of any brand - as long as it works and does not give me grief!

Well I tried the setup according to Humayun. I can now connect to home wifi without having to type in my password but the network is still very slow. I have hit the reset button on the modem/router (netgear) but didn't make any difference.
Did the same at work (without reset), dlink, and the network works fast.
Need to buy dlink modem router.

I doubt it's the Netgears fault, A friend at work has had slow / unreliable wifi connections on his iPad 3 since the iOS6 upgrade and that's on both a Netgear and an Apple Airport Extreme wifi router. My one remaining Apple product, an iPad, was updated to iOS4 and that slowed it down enough that I decided not to update it any further.

Google Maps is now out for iOS6 for anyone that doesn't like the inbuilt apple maps (The apple maps works fine for me, it got me all around various Sydney Wreckers last month via voice and didn't get me lost, but others swear by Google Maps)

Had the update since mid october. Some observations.

Siri and maps works a real treat. Never wrong and it counts down distances really well. I like the turn by turn feature.

The panorama feature in the camera is superb. Very sharp and is very even on lighting. It makes one of my apps redundant.

The wifi to cars issue is a problem though. I cannot use the paddles on my stearing well to change music up or down in the phone (ipod function). Apparently this is a world wide issue and affects all cars to varying degrees. I was lucky my phone still works from what I read with regard to wifi connections.

Overall a good update but now I need to update te stereo because apple will not sort the problem it caused. Straight from Apple.
