Some Sunday Solar Snaps - H-Alpha

Hi All

Managed to get some imaging done on Sunday. Conditions were relatively good and the following shots were the best I could manage on the day.

Taken with Lunt LS80, DMK41 camera and 2.5 powermate and the higher magnification shot includes a further 2x barlow and no, it is not a shot of my bedroom carpet . The higher magnification image is however a little too much for the seeing on the day and it has also been inverted.

5X Mag Inverted: Image 1

2.5X Mag: Image 2

2.5X Mag: Image 3

Thanks All
Ted

Nice etalon setting Ted. Very fine detail with a dreamy look as you would expect to see close up to the sun. Lovely work.

I'm seeing some processing artifacts (ie a little over-cooked) in the 2.5x images... but, aye carrumba, the 5x image is simply awesome.

Nicely done indeed!

Hi Ted,
Really nice set of close-ups. To me, images 2 and 3 are superb.

Regards,

Fernando

Thanks Peter

Yes, agree a bit over done. Have to resist that insidious desire to apply just one more little sharpening tweak.

Thanks Matt. I did do a repro on image 2 as its artifacts were more noticeable than Image 3.
