Because up here in mid summer the sun sets at 7pm to 7.30 already so with DLS it would be 8pm to 8.30 I think that is enough reason not to want it

I'd suggest you're only representing one Queensland view Warren. Even outside SEQ, there seems to be a big block of the population in favour, albeit in a minority.

well if SEQ wants it let them form their own state an we will be the state of FNQ

We have had so many referendums over the years and all have said no to DLS that should be the end of it

Try putting a child to bed when the sun is still up. Been there, done that. It was the bane of most parents.
And from further personal experience- I was never motivated to start dinner while the sun was still up so everyone went hungry until late. It pained me to admit that, I'm just too honest for my own good.
Good riddance to it I say.

I guess I'm the opposite,Suzy. I don't like waking up at 4.30 am because its daylight. Can't say I ever had problems with my kids going to bed at 8.30pm. Guess we all have different likes and dislikes-Cheers!

Hi Suzy, and everyone,
I can relate to nearly all the arguements, for and agin. Done the child thing as Suzy mentions. Lived in Brisbane, lived in Townsville.
I am kind of on the fence with this. However the people who have solar power installed will be happier with the extra daylight. LOL
Now I can feel the tomatoes being hurled my way.
Cheers

7.30pm for the littlies.
But you're right too- we can't all have the same requirements and likes. And this topic will always raise a heated debate because of it. From what I remember and my experience, I think it was the parents with kids that had the biggest problem with it.
Marty, with the price I paid for tomatoes a couple of weeks ago, you'll keep.
For me, I would like the sun to come up around 5 and disappear around 6.
Edit: Wait.. 5 is too generous, 6am is better!
Tho to me it matters not, I sleep right thru the sun.

Perhaps Campbell Newman will fix it, after all he's a good ole Tassie Boy, all that's needed is some financial incentive. (did I mention I'm glad he's up there and not here!! )

Why do Q'landers not want daylight savings?
