White Light Sun - Jul 5th

Adelaide had some nice periods of clear sky on Thursday 5th, and I managed to get some white light images of the sun through my C6 and Baader solar filter.

The camera was a Canon EOS 400D. The image is a stack of 16 RAW frames using AS2!. The yellow hue was added when the curves were adjusted in Gimp.

Hope you enjoy. Certainly some interesting sunspot activity going on at the moment.

If you flip the image over, the Sun is smiling on you Ivan.

Not too shabby at all! Well done. A good overall record of the whole disk! Cheers, Stephen

Thanks Ray. I do like white light when there are a few sunspots and faculae visible.

Thanks Stephen. The C6 with f/6.3 focal reducer and Canon 400D are a good size match for the full disc sun (and moon of course).

Thanks Paula. I've found stacking RAW images rather than JPG lets me sharpen more before artifacts become visible.
