Haven't had the flu, but am getting over a dose of Shingles, painful as all hell. I think I would have preferred to have had Mike Sidonio punch me in the side I sure know it felt like it.

In the second round now, this bloody flu is pretty tenacious.

I thought I was hard up after having the sore throat, dry cough, stuffed head, running nose, and infected sinuses on and off for about four weeks. The last day I felt OK was the day before the partial lunar eclipse. I managed to keep it down to two days off work, including the day of the transit, and one day work from home. We've had some of the clearest skies but SWMBO would have been seriously unimpressed if I'd tried to spend more than a few minutes outside.

Dan, I'm glad to know that Charlotte is getting better.

I've been in a similar condition as most of you , but I've had constant reminders that it is only 'man flu' and comments thrust at me such as 'get over it you big sook'.....

I probably would have got that too Stephen, except SWMBO had almost identical symptoms for weeks a few months back, and seems to be coming down with this new variant.

I second that JJJ,

It seems the flu has passed me by for many years, really cant remember having it actually, maybe a sniffle here and there, but i have never had a full blown flu.

Well fancy stumbling across this thread whilst being at home sick with what seems to be the flu.
I felt crap last night and even worse this morning so stayed home and a few builders I work for are the same.

I am on my second bout since may as well. I take plenty vitamin C in tablet form and fresh fruit. Usually I take Sambucol at first signs but this year it seems everyone is buying. Ah well RDO tomorrow might get Rum bottle out tonight while watching SOO don't know whether it works but I'll be the guinea pig and let you know *sniff*

Yes the dreaded flu shot.
What an absolute joke.
Maybe it was thought by chemists to keep buying there products.
Can someone tell me if it works as i had it 2 months ago and ive had some strain of flu for 8 days now.
end of yarn

Blood test results back. One surprise - I have had glandular fever in the past! Must have been relatively mild.

I'm showing weak markers for the current influenza strains. Best guess is that I have been having relatively mild bouts of 'flu. Hopefully being kept mild by this year's 'flu shot that I had.

So I'm counting the days to see if my body has beaten it, or I will relapse. I can keep going for several hours but I weaken rapidly later in the day and need to rest - like I need to, tonight.

Yeah, people have been 'soldiering on' all week at work, coughing their guts up. I want to yell at them to go home! Employers really need to understand better that they will save more money by sending people home than having them at half capability and infecting everyone else as well.

Woke up this morning with stuffy head and sore throat and ears...
Arrrggh!
Hope it isn't whatever has been knocking everyone down here.

Absolutely.
It's shocking in the train..I am pretty sure that is where I picked it up.

The experiment didnt work Wednesday night so I am going to rerun the experiment again tonight with a few variants. Try mixing with ginger beer and see what happens.

I think it's coming back. Head's a bit stuffy and I have a sore throat. That makes it about 5 weeks.

We've had two separate lurgies going round my office for months.

One of them was a nasty cough which didn't seem to be affected by any 'medicinals' but the other which was just general flu symptoms responded very well to being treated to gin and tonics with plenty of lemon.

Tis the season for it, it seems! I had a really bad cold maybe a month or so ago and was off again two weeks later with a chest infection In the clear now though and hoping to stay healthy through the rest of winter! Working in retail though, it's really hard to avoid!
