High School student question

Would someone be able to give me some variable stars that are in the sky at the moment that a student of mine can measure the light curve. I know I could search for this but I am flat out. Sorry. He has use of a telescope and has used IRIS to determine the magnitude of one star. I think it would have to have a relatively short period though.

Hi,

What a weird error that was. I had attached it from My Recent Documents. Seems you can't do that, or not how I did.

Cepheid stars in the south should be OK. Examples are:
R Mus :Cepheid mag 5.9 to 6.7 period 7.5 days
XX Cen :mag 7.3 to 8.3 period ~11 days
Both have good comp stars charts on the AAVSO website.
Go here http://www.aavso.org/vsp and plug the star name and select B or C for the chart size.
