Sol 12 May 2012

Hi All,

I bought a new scope for the upcoming transit as my normal scope is not very portable. I found a cheap Celestron 80 GLT on eBay for $159, it has a solar filter as well.

Set it up this morning and took some shots straight through with the D300. Quite impressed. The scope handled the extra weight of the DSLR hanging off the focuser, after a quick rebalance. I'll try the Lunt 60 piggybacked, it might work.

Anyway it inspired me to get the Lunt out and train it on Sol, what a sight, great activity everywhere.

Here's the pics. There's more on my website http://tinyurl.com/7x9qucz

Cheers
Stuart
