Beetle ID please?

Took this up in Queensland near Brisbane last weekend.

Any ideas what beetle this is?

Reminds me of the cane beetle that the cane toad was supposed to get rid of

Thanks mate. I just did a search on cane-beetle and nothing matches. They all look too big as well. These fellas were about the size of a lady-beetle.

Family- Coccinellidae.

Sort of a 'Lady beetle' family

Thanks Chris. Your first one there, "Egleis edwardsi" gives me butterfly references....

The second one is more like it. It was about the same size as a ladybird and similar shape. Just trying to nail down the specifics.

All good folks. It has been positively identified by very helpful friend on the net as an introduced, leaf eating beetle, zygogramma bicolorata.

Problem solved!
