Thanks Leon. Your's is so symmetrical it could have gone in that geometric challenge we had two months ago.

I miss those sunsets.

Ok... here's a few John Wests while I sort through for an interim entry.... I'd still like to take one this month if weather and subjects cooperate...

1. Night time garden panorama at a friend's place for Christmas.
2. A special moment at my mate's wedding in Canada - His step niece has me under surveillance and Grandpa's just doing what Grandpas do. To me, she IS the foreground... everyone else is background...
3. Wedding candles.
4. Oberon Dam.
5. Oberon Dam.
6. Yerranderie Lodge.
7. Icebreaker shot when the groom and best man were getting a bit nervous...
8. Oberon Dam again.

Al.

Number five is a ripper Al, although the rest aren't to shabby either, nice captures.

Agree with Leon too Al, and I like the candlelit scene as well. All good.

Thanks Rick and Leon. Its good to get feedback. I really struggle to pick a favourite of my own shots... I see all sorts of faults in them, and eventually it just gets too hard.

Just found this area of the forum. I think it's a great idea to have a monthly challenge. Loving the shots so far this month. Here is a startrail I did at the same location as my entry. Decided not to use this one as it is not a single exposure, and I think I got the framing of the foreground better in the other one. It is a stack of about 60, 30 second exposures.

I wouldn't worry about being a single exposure, Greg, that's not a criteria. Its the final image that matters, and that its your own work.

Nice shots Al. I like the candles, and another top pick of mine is the last one.

I have a few from the tip to Canberra that didn't make the grade.

Two dishes, the one in the back is the 74 m DSS 43 and the nearer one is DSS 46, originally constructed at Honeysuckle Creek and used for the Apollo missions now at Tidbinbilla.

2. Bluebells and bee with the solar observatory in the back ground at Mt Stromlo.

3. DSS46 and the Brindabellas.

4. The Moon above the clouds on the flight home.

5. one of the Little Sky Mapper domes at Mt Stromlo (will research it latter) with the burnt out directors house in the background.

5. Parliament house looking back through the entrance to the War Memorial.

I have really enjoyed this challenge... There is so much that can be done (evidence the submissions so far) and I believe that we've only scratched the surface. Here is the last of the ones I took last weekend. All I believe would be worth putting in as an entry, although I think the one I've chose is my favourite (but only just).

1. Parliament House above the entrance to the War Memorial.

2. Approaching Brisbane Airport, the Port of Brisbane, The Brisbane River, and cruise liner "Radiance of the Seas" steaming into port over the wing of the aircraft.

3. "Radiance of the Seas", Port of Brisbane and the mouth of the river over the wing.

4. The post card shot from Mt Ainslie above the War Memorial, with Parliament House and the big fountain in Lake Burley Griffin.

5. The upper truss from the 50 inch reflector that was destroyed in the firestorm in 2003, with the dome of the 70 inch in the background. The large object next to the truss appears to be part of the mount and scope assembly.

6. The 50 inch truss and the shell of the Directors House in the background. I really liked this shot and would have used it but didn't compose it well enough... The house should not have been obscured by the truss.

All the shots suffered from poor transparency but very satisfying results just the same.

Cheers
Tony

Thanks Rick... I was very happy. All would be contenders but for each other, and the one I had chosen

Almost forgot these ones, but remembered when I synced my iphone.

1. Anne-Louise at the Meatloaf concert at Boondal early this month before it started to fill.

1. 360 deg pan using the PhotoSynth app... mostly OK, but just lost it a bit behind Anne-Louise's head.
