Crux widefield from Qld AF

More widefield with the 450D and nifty 50 from Astrofest. I followed Crux down until it got near the cafeteria chimney one evening. This is an hour and 5mins of 5min subs, ISO 400 f/3.5 (before JJJ educated me on the benefits of stopping down further )

I've tried to bring through detail in the dark nebula/coalsack structure as well as portray some of the Ha in IC 2944 (albeit using a standard "unmodded" camera).

Thanks Rick. Colours a bit garish but I'm having fun (and learning something too....)

That's one of the best Crux shots I have seen. Lovely.

The nifty 50 what is that a 50mm F1.8 or the Canon stock lens 18-50?

Greg.

Thanks Greg. Yes, it's the 50mm F1.8. Incredible value for money if the budget doesn't extend to L lens performance. I leave it on the camera now, as it's great fun for portraits and catching the kids indoors too without flash. There's a bit of distortion in the bottom right corner I find but not a major problem.

Cheers Ross. I was fretting over the magenta leftovers but this is about the best I can do with it.
