Eek, something really nasty has happened there.

It's most likely due to highlight clipping -- all the data is clipped, except for the background.

Yeah I wanted to show some detail the whole photo session was a waste I wanted some nice rodeo photo's but I still am inexperienced in getting good frozen action shots at night but I wanted to show some photo's from the night and I thought these were the best of the night anyway I thought they looked colourful. I don't know what highlight clipping is so if you can explain it I can learn something

Did they come out of the camera like that? I don't imagine they would have looked like that on camera?

No they didn't I just changed contrast and brightness with some shadow protection.

Highlight clipping just means that the white areas in the centre of the firework explosions are 'blown out' to pure white, and lacking detail.
Do you have an original image from the camera before editing? We could look at that and see if the detail is there to be recovered, whilst keeping all the colour and other detail of the shots.

I love photos of fireworks, there is always such colour and dynamics at play.

Frozen action shots at night are really difficult.
You either need to shoot at High ISO (1600 or higher) with a lens that goes down to less than F2.0 , or have a big-arse-flash (TM) that is capable of freezing the action.
Panning with the movement can help too.
