Here be Dragons...

Frankly, I don't recall whether I linked this effort previously on IIS or not
...but... here is a pretty wide angle shot of the Milky-Way in H-Alpha.

The link is here

Thanks Chris.... I'm hopeless when it comes to keeping records, but this
was a "scatter-gun" approach to that part of the Milky Way (hence the dragons- i.e. nil data bit) .

I used a FSQ106, STX 16803 and about 40 mosaic frames. The project was supposed to be colour, but was simply was too much for my PC which more often than not would crash as it could not handle the 150Gig file sizes...hence it stayed as B&W.

I think you might have shown parts of this before Peter. In any case it's a great shot.

Cheers

Humm... I think you may be correct... too many years of substance abuse on my part

Yeah I remember seeing some of this or all of it before. Still a great mosaic though. Certain could still be concluded in colour though. With that PME you could still get it all sorted. It might just take several months.

This is certainly an excellent mosaic Pete showcasing our favourites for this time of the year.
I do remember it and many asked if there was some colour coming.. I remember the reply... that being 'no'

But come on, you know you gotta go for it, imaging the colour print with 2 A3's put together hangin' off your lounge room wall.
Now that would be something!

Rich

My goodness the slider on my screen just kept going and going with more nebula popping up every few seconds. Amazing piece of work and such dedication, hats off Sir!

So, that would be pretty long angle then, rather than pretty wide?.
A bit overly very either way, but I appreciate the effort and quality.

Humm. OK I'll migrate from "no" to "let me think about it"

Thanks....I'd agree several months and a new 16Gig Ram, i7, 8Tb redundant RAID, 64 bit based PC....ouch....it's gonna cost...
