Hi mate, where abouts in Sydney are you living? Theres a lot of clubs near by there ASNSW, North Sydney Astronmy club etc Just google them. Im sorta new to astronomy and sydney myself and wouldnt mind having someone to go observing with, safety in numbers lol. Sick of hanging out in dingy ovals by myself having random people rocking up in hotted up sports cars looking menacing. Drop me a msg if your keen to meet up, i live in Kirribilli. Looking at going to Crago Observatory star party (23rdApril) its 1hr 20mins away from the light polluted skies but weather is looking dodgey this w.e
Anyways welcome to sydney where its always cloudy and the skies arent so dark!
Adam

There's heaps around Sydney.
Here's a list of most of them:

As for star parties, you just missed SPSP, but IISAC2011 is coming up in late October

Hi Albert,
IIS really is a virtual astro club.
Keep a lookout here for posts by Alex - Mental4Astro. He regularly posts news of an astro get-together at Randwick, or at Katoomba airfield (eg 30th of this month), in the Blue Mountains.
I think he is shaping as a real threat to the supremacy of IIS
They are really good gatherings where you would not even need your own personal scope, no problem.
Alex is currently sorting a few issues with legal liabilities (if any) but when that is all collimated I think it will be full steam ahead.
Cheers

Hi Albert,
The ASNSW meet at the Epping Creative Arts Centre, just up the road from you. You can find meeting details on www.asnsw.com.
We have two viewing sites, Crago (Bowen Mountain) just west of Richmond about an 1hr drive from Sydney and Wiruna (Ilford) which is 3hrs North West of Sydney on the other side of the mountains.
Both sites are well patronised by members each month, again you can find more details on our website.
BTW dont listen to Adam (Riley86) the weather at Crago is very different to Sydney, last month it was raining in Sydney and clear skies there.

There was supposed to be little smiley and laughy faces after my comment, but was running out of the house and didnt notice till I got home. So here they are
Yes, the next viewing is this Friday and Saturday nights. Email or ring Ian Parr to confirm things are on as he is the site manager.
Wiruna is the weekend after.

I'm the usual organiser of the North Turramurra observing nights with the Northern Sydney Astonomical Society.
Yes indeed our next session will be April 29th, and then a week later on may 6th. Visitors are very welcome. Details here:

PM me if you need more info or use our contact page and I'll get your message:
