A fabulous image but could I be so ignorant as to ask why the prominences don't show? I think that's what those giant loops off the sun are called. I'm only new to this solar game.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm using a Coronado 90mm double stack system these days.

Frank, the proms are there, but don't show in this image as they are a good deal fainter than the disk....and would have required another exposure run.

Nice Peter. I take it that this is a mosaic? It shows a great deal more detail than you previous image.

Thanks ! Yes the mosaics are a little frustrating as the seeing does cause subtle variations in the level of detail.... but a run of clear weather would help !

Just a question Peter. When doing mosaics do you keep the gamma at the standard level for the lumenera or i fyou changed it how did you get around the subtle changes in illumination? I have been struggling with this on mosaics for a long time. Doing a simple two panel mosaic is fine but larger ones require hours of dodge and burn to control the differences in each panel. In other words I cannot control it as yet.

I vary it depending on the detail I'm trying to capture....but I'm also comfortable in working with Photoshop layers in getting the blend to look reasonably smooth..."work" being the operative word
