NEQ6 Pro ?

Hey all,

Am looking to buy another mount and was considering the NEQ6 Pro.
My question is, will it take a vixen dovetail as well as the larger one?
Also what weight will it hold as I am finding conflicting info?

Brett.

Hi Brett,

I just purchased a NEQ6 Pro from Andrews. The one I got had both a "D Losmandy" and a "Vixen" style saddle.

You basically just loosen the allen screws and replace that part of the mount with the version you want. It's quite easy but not something I would want to be doing during each night's viewing.

Cheers,
Af.

The NEQ6 is the same as the EQ6 mechanically, introduced specifically in conjunction with the SW 12" Newt as its companion. The NEQ6 has a Losmandy D style dovetail and also ships with 5x5.1 kg CW's which are needed to balance the 12". The standard EQ6 has the Vixen dovetail and only ships with 2 x 5.1 kg CW's.

Odd. I purchased the NEQ6 Pro which came with 2x5.1 kg counterweights. I purchased the "extended" version which also includes both the Vixen and Losmandy D style saddles.

Thanx for the info people.
I have actually decided to go with the HEQ5 Pro now.
Just not sure if I should buy it straight away or wait a few months.
Apparently April is meant to be very rainy.
