Christmas Spiders are out!!

The Christmas spider, (Austracantha minax) also known as the Jewel spider.

These little guys are so cool! They make their web invisible like most webs, but they deliberately make the support lines visible so larger animals will see them and go around! Beautiful and smart too! Just like my wife.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Baz.

Merry Christmas Baz

I haven't seen them for many years, as kids we called them "Star Spiders".

I can remember the paddocks which are now houses at Jerra being filled with thousands of their webs.

Cheers

Wonderful shots Baz. Am looking forward to learning the ropes on my new toy, 550D.
Well done on the brownie points too.
