Heq5pro star alignment

Hi
I have a HEQ5Pro mount and I usually try to select at least one of the major guide stars near to my intended imaging object. I have a list of the full set of HEQ5Pro guide stars (courtesy of a previous thread) but I notice that the mount only presents for alignment those stars which it thinks are appropriate for the particular time of the year. However, there are some stars on the full list that it does not present for a particular time but which I would like to select for alignment. Is there a way that I can access any star on the full list at any time for alignment purposes?
Of course I can select stars in less close proximity to my intended imaging object but subsequent distant slewing does not give me the slewing accuracy of selecting an alignment star closest to the imaging object. Perhaps my technique is wrong?
Cheers Peter

You can select your own stars by pressing the up and down keys at the star selected by the controller. Also you have the facility on the controller to center on a star close to the object after alignment to improve accuracy in that part of the sky.

Thanks Philip - I guess I was just trying to cut corners but I will follow your suggestion to align then go to the preferred star. I have tried to follow the "book" and use their "Pointing Accuracy Enhancement" method
but I have found this a bit clunky.

Agree Peter - it sure is clunky. wouldn't it be nice to have a single button push to implement this important feature?
