Mars this morning from Melbourne

Mars taken at 2.00am this morning from Melbourne. I think conditions may have been better earlier on in the night?? so keen to see how anyone else went. Ended up with only 500 frames to process meaning image is a little grainy. Enjoy!

G'day John - nice looking image, but maybe a bit on the yellow side, what do you think?

I dunno, kind like the colour actually, and the detail is certainly impressive, though there must be something wrong when Melbourne has clear skies while Brisbane wallows under the cloud

cheers

John, I don't normally tinker with other peoples images, but I was curious how yours would look with a colour correction and reduced saturation. I also added some unsharp-masking to bring up more detail.

In this image the south polar cap is almost white, so I feel comfortable that this is closer to the true colour.

It's interesting to compare this image to your original. I'd welcome your thoughts.

Great Mars, John! I agree with Bird that the hues are a bit off, but the detail is fantastic; second only to Bird's Snake Valley masterpiece. Very impressive considering you're only using a webcam.

Thanks Anthony, that's a great improvement, agree with the comments, appreciate it!
If you dont mind I'll add your improved shot on my photo web site and give you the credit.

p.s. yep, Melbourne weather! can be good but it is cloudy tonight, so clear skies probably comming Brisbane way!

Melbourne weather. If you don't like it . . wait ten minutes!

Very nice pic John. Good surface detail. Anthony has certainly worked his magic on the reprocessing too!

Hi John,

Should you have further question on how EP works on ToUcam imaging, welcome to send me PM. I will try my best to provide you with my experience.

Maybe some folks also want to know how EP is done with webcam. If I have more time in the following days, I will take some picture and give some description to show how it works.
