NGC 3576 in colour

Added some colour data. Not all that happy with the result as the seeing last light (between the clouds) was pretty dreadful... anyway here 'tis

Nice Peter - I really like the way you've covered the dynamic range in the image. I found it really difficult (buts thats just my inability showing through).

The color blend is very nice. You've kept the pink areas on the right vs. the warmer yellowish tinge on the left. That is more obvious in RGB shots but for an Ha blend it's really well done.

Excellent Peter, the dynamic range is very appropriate and gives it vibrancy without blooming and retaining detail in the bright bits.

Sort of. The sheer size of these 16803 sensors makes getting everything dead nuts on quite a challenge and you've picked up on a teeny bit of tilt in the system that has yet to be rectified.

trial and error to get it square or is there a way to make the camera sensor square Peter?

Yeah it's definitely a tough one to process - rich star field, faint neb. Your colour looks good but it lacks vibrancy IMO. The depth in your Ha (red) seems less than your raw Ha frame would suggest. How about adding some more Ha to the Red channel?

Too bad you can't show full res ... we're missing a lot not seeing that. Maybe you need a Pbase account?!

Cheers, Marcus

If you plan to treat it like that, I'll trade you a Meade DSI II for you to take your aggression out on!

Great image too.

Ta Marcus...I did a technicolour version but frankly didn't like it as much. That said...gave it a tweak just for you Marcus

I've yet to get some L data, plus only got 20 mins each of RGB...a case of "watch this space" ... if the weather co-operates

As for full res-version....there are no technical issues that would prevent me doing so...I just have this aversion.

< hmmmph> ... chip the size of a planet and won't show us what it can do..... say, I don't s'pose you've noticed my humble 2 year old rendition through a crumby little 6" (here) has more detail than yours, hmmm?

Are you two going to draw "scopes" at twenty paces?

I think the appropriate quote from Spaceballs would be, " I see your Schwartz is as big as mine!"

Nothing crumby at all about a 6" Taka!

Actually the respective renditions are on a (resolution) par. Seeing has to be exceptional for a larger aperture to have much affect.

The repro with the added Ha certainly packs a punch. Much sharper details overall especially in the cores. Almost completely resolved that little cluster in one of them. Nice.
